Before you buy a challenge. Prop firm challenges are paid evaluations, most traders don't pass, and fees are usually not refundable. Funded accounts are simulated and firms can change their rules. Only pay what you can afford to lose, read the firm's full rules first, and check whether paying an overseas firm is allowed where you live.
About Apex Trader Funding: Operational: metals trading halted early 2026, restored May 2026. Major rule overhaul 1 Mar 2026 with two coexisting rulebooks. No regulatory action found.

Our verdict

Apex Trader Funding is a Texas-based futures evaluation firm, founded in 2021, that rebuilt its rulebook in March 2026. Gold is traded as GC/MGC futures, and access to metals was suspended for part of 2026.

Apex Trader Funding is a futures-only firm based in Austin, Texas, founded in 2021. In March 2026 it launched a rebuilt rulebook, often called Apex 4.0, which dropped monthly subscriptions and several older rules. Traders now pay a one-off evaluation fee plus an activation fee on passing. A $50K end-of-day trailing account lists at $197 plus $99, though the firm runs discounts most of the time. Evaluations must be completed within 30 days, with no minimum number of days. Funded accounts pay 100% of profits within a fixed payout ladder. Each request needs five qualifying days, no single day may make up half or more of the profit, and each account closes permanently after its sixth payout. Gold is traded through CME futures (GC and MGC), not spot XAUUSD. Apex halted metals contracts in early 2026 because of volatility and margin changes, then restored them in May 2026, so availability can change at short notice. All positions must be closed by 4:59 PM ET, which rules out overnight and weekend gold trades, and automated trading is banned. Trustpilot shows 4.2 from about 21,000 reviews.
